Ekaterina Urch, M.D.Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Ekaterina Urch is a fellowship trained and board certified sports medicine physician who has undergone training at HSS and Kerlan Jobe Clinic, two of the most prestigious and respected institutions in the field of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. She has a passion for helping patients overcome injury to live an active and healthy life. From her experience as a collegiate volleyball player, she understands firsthand the frustration and stress that injury can cause. Dr. Urch treats patients of all ages with diverse orthopedic injuries. She specializes in injuries and conditions of the knee and shoulder, with a particular interest in women’s health and caring for female athletes and other active women.

Dr. Urch earned her medical degree at New York University where she graduated at the top of her class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her orthopedic surgery residency training at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City where she trained with some of the world’s leading orthopedic surgeons.

During her time in New York, her athletic achievements were also recognized and she was inducted into the New York University Athletic Hall of Fame for captaining the women’s volleyball team and bringing it to national prominence. She went on to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. During her time in Los Angeles, she helped take care of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and served as a team physician for Loyola Marymount University.

Dr. Urch values many of the same things as the dynamic, outdoor-loving and friendly people of Central Oregon do. She and her husband have loved raising their family in this community. In her spare time, she enjoys snowboarding, running, hiking, and traveling with her husband and daughters.

The Center is the largest, most highly regarded orthopedic, neurosurgery and physiatry group in Central Oregon. We have the privilege of taking care of a diverse patient population ranging from professional athletes to active retirees.

  • Orthopaedic private practice in a rapidly growing, dynamic community with a primary focus on acute and chronic injuries of the shoulder and knee, including shoulder and kne arthroplasty.
  • The Center is the primary orthopaedic care provider for Mt. Bachelor, the sixth largest ski resort in North America, which is the home mountain for a large group of professional athletes.
  • Operate in outpatient and inpatient settings with admitting privileges in good standing at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Redmond and Prineville, OR.
  • Participate in orthopaedic trauma call at the Bend campus which provides orthopaedic care for all of Central Oregon and is a busy level II trauma center (operating essentially as a level I without the designation) which frequently treats polytrauma patients from all over the state.
  • Work closely with and help manage 4 orthopaedic Physician Assistants, including monthly educational sessions focusing on continuing medical education through presentations and journal clubs.
  • Member of various committees including Cascade Surgery Center Steering Committee and Medical Advisory and Quality Committee
  • Team Physician for Bend High School Athletics.
  • Help cover varsity high school football and wrestling events at satellite rural communities.
  • Routinely participate in community-facing presentations and conferences geared at musculoskeletal education and injury prevention.
  • Recipient of the 2020 Cascade Business News Accomplished Under 40 Award
